The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of Boston's legendary Jack's Drum Shop. Jack Adams, the grandfather of Alan and Ron, hand turned drumsticks for drummers such as Buddy Rich as far back as 1956. In the early to mid 1980s, the Vater brothers began producing private-label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. After a few years, they decided to relocate their business to a new factory in Holbrook, MA.

In the past decade, the Vater family and product line have seen significant growth, introducing innovative products like the Splash Stick and Acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers such as Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh Freeze. Our mission at Vater is clear – to create the best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

One of our unique offerings is the Alien Freak drumstick, made from "dark" hickory with a distinctive design featuring no taper or tip. This double butt-end stick is left unfinished for a comfortable sanded feel.
